If you receive this message your email program probably isn't authenticating with your outgoing mail server (SMTP).
To fix this follow the instructions below:
Outlook Express
* 1 Click "Tools" menu and select "Accounts".
* 2 Click the "Mail" tab.
* 3 Double click on your account.
* 4 Click "Properties".
* 5 Click "Servers" tab.
* 6 Select the checkbox: "My server requires authentication".
* 7 Click "OK".
Outlook
* 1.. Click "Tools" menu and select "E-mail Accounts".
* 2.. Click "View or change existing e-mail accounts".
* 3.. Double click your e-mail account.
* 4.. Click the "More Settings" in the new box that appears.
* 5.. Click "Outgoing Server" tab.
* 6.. Select "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" checkbox.
* 7.. Click "OK".
